There's an elemental darkness at the heart of this massive Black Barley and Rye Wine. You can feel it wafting rich, dark fruit up from the glass with powerful overtones of tobacco and bourbon. Like its stable mate The Vandal, Black Sabbath is inspired by a famous John Reid-built kiwi hot rod, but at the same time Panhead think its strength and uncompromising character also pay considerable tribute to the rock and roll originators of the name.

As self-confessed bogans we have an attraction to black. The key to creating a silky death metal monster like Blacktop is the caramelised Golden naked Oats we've built it around. Sophisticates will detect the chocolate and coffee notes of creamy tiramisu. The rest of us will note that it matches our jeans.

The Vandal rides again. NZ's sickest bucket has had a few facelifts since John Reid built it in the 60's and Panhead would like to put their tribute brew back up on the hoist too. This incarnation is powered by 2023's dankest Nelson Sauvin flown straight from the vine to the whirlpool, brining fresh harvest funk to our infamous IPA. Savour it. Karl loves giving crowds something they've never seen before, like this Fresh Hop Pale Ale, serving white grape, passionfruit and lemon zest vibes over a honey malt base.

Pilsner is famously Czech in origin, but here we've gone for a South Pacific hop profile in keeping with the people who brew it and drink it. Passionfruit, grapefruit and sauvignon blanc characters abound, stacked up on a robust malt base that's partly German, partly Kiwi.

In hot rodding a Rat Rod is a chopped, low slung, rough and rusty special, designed for go more than show. A little like a classic hazy IPA in other words. There's a monster American hopping regime inside this unfiltered diamond, throwing the juicy orange and fruit salad characters forward without too much bitterness or malty sophistication.
