Deeply coloured with brooding aromas of ripe plum and red fruits, Thornbury Merlot is soft and silky smooth. Sourced from a pedigree of vineyards located in Gimblett Gravels, Hawkes Bay which provide full-bodied, rich style wines.
Exhibits typical regional characters of red berries and cherries mixed with spicy and earthy notes. The texture of the wine is soft with supple tannins and carries flavours of red fruits and spice through the palate to a soft, persistent finish.
The blackberry, spice and liquorice nuances combine to produce a fruit dominant but complex wine. A small inclusion of the white variety Viognier gives the wine beautiful perfume and allows the wine more accessibility while young. This wine is of the lighter style.
