A bold Hawke's Bay Syrah - Floral aromas such as lilac, violet with lifted dark berry notes appear on the nose. On the palate, flavours of boysenberry and plum with well-integrated oak influence come through. With medium weight on the palate, this wine has a hint of pepper and warm spices, rounded out with a soft and velvety finish. With its delicate flavours, this wine pairs wonderfully with grilled meats and vegetables, particularly lamb and eggplant.

The blackberry, spice and liquorice nuances combine to produce a fruit dominant but complex wine. A small inclusion of the white variety Viognier gives the wine beautiful perfume and allows the wine more accessibility while young. This wine is of the lighter style.

Two Gates vines are planted on classic Hawke's Bay river terraces, chosen for their cool nights and low rainfall. Grapes grown here will continue to exhibit finesse, balance and complexity as the vines age and their organic approach builds the uniqueness of these handcrafted wines. This Syrah is complex and beautifully elegant with aromas of ripe black fruits and wild thyme. The palate follows through with bright red and black fruit flavours, a refined acidity and a savoury finish. The tannins are fine-grained and add a beautiful structure and length.

Private Bin Syrah is grown on warm Hawkes Bay plains between flowing rivers, then bottled at their winery in the crater of a volcano. Enjoy its smooth velvet texture with rich flavours of dark berries and a touch of spice.
